Getting UW Madison Credit for Your Course

There are five steps to registering for UW Madison credit. Please read through the directions for each step carefully. Telephone “HELP” numbers are provided for each step if you have any problems. We hope you enjoy your course!

Step 1: Getting admitted to UW Madison as a Special Student

Have questions about the status of your application? Having trouble completing the online application? Contact the Adult and Student Services Center, 608-263-6960.

Step 2: Registration authorization

Since WisTEP courses are closed to undergraduates and only open to teachers, you must obtain authorization to register by contacting Kevin Niemi (kjniemi@wisc.edu, 608-262-5480). I will need your student ID number in order to give you permission in the system to register.

Step 3: Activating your NetID and Password

Step 4: Enrolling in your Class (Remember to contact Kevin first for authorization)

Step 5: Paying for your class

Trouble with Step 5? Contact the Bursar, 608-262-3611.

All students will only receive their tuition bills electronically to their @wisc.edu (WiscMail) e-mail accounts. (This email account is created when they activate their NetID, and is accessible via http://my.wisc.edu.) They can also check their tuition balance in the Student Center where they enroll for courses, which is also accessible at http://my.wisc.edu.
